Friday Finds: KUBB Tournament Set, an alternative to lawn bowling

A gem or two from the week that was

looks like something we want to play. Aficionados say it is truly an all-Canadian pseudo-sport which can be played in backyards, parks, picnics, camping or at staff parties. And, yes, some play it in the snow.

We’ve never heard of it but now that we have, we can’t wait to play KUBB. The Swedish outdoor game for all ages that has existed for ages.How it’s played: “The aim of the game is to conquer the King. Two teams on either side of the playing field take turns to knock down the opponent’s kubbs with a wooden baton. Once one team’s kubbs are all knocked down, it’s time to capture the throne by knocking over the King. The team which knocks over the King first wins.
