Frisco's Planning and Zoning Commission recommended a special use permit Tuesday night, then it was approved by City Council in a 4-2 vote, paving the way for construction to on Universal’s first kid-friendly theme park to begin.
. The park will also include a 300-room hotel for the first phase with an additional 300 rooms contemplated in a future phase. The remainder of the site will be used for three parking areas and administration, storage and technical service areas.
To help with buffering, the developer will provide canopy trees, shrubbery, and berming that will screen perimeter fencing and enhance the area with lush green landscape. City staff is also exploring options to connect the city’s hike and bike trail system. Frisco Police Department will partner with Universal prior to opening to help determine how many officers will be needed and what services will be provided by police versus Universal security officers..
