Garrett Wilson helped Lake Travis win a state title his sophomore year. Now he's projected to be a first round draft pick.
PUBLISHED 12:37 PM CDT Apr. 25, 2022AUSTIN, Texas — Hank Carter can remember the exact moment he met Garrett Wilson. The Lake Travis head football coach was watching a group of sixth-graders playing when he saw a kid score a touchdown and jump up to dunk the ball over the goalpost. Wilson had over 2,200 yards receiving and 23 touchdowns at Ohio State“I was like OK, that looked a little different than what a typical sixth-grader would do,” Carter recalled.
“He had a Hail Mary catch, I think two games in a row, just an unbelievable catch,” Hudson Card, Wilson’s former teammate and current UT quarterback, recalled. “Just the way he can control himself in the air is pretty unbelievable.” “I feel like I do a good job of going up and getting the 50/50 ball,” says Wilson. “I play bigger than my size and I play with a whole lot of passion. You can see the competitiveness and passion pour out of me when I’m on the field.”
Those that have known Garrett for a long time are excited to see where his pro career takes him as well.
