Frustration boils over for reeling Rockies in 6-3 loss to Twins

The loss punctuated a 1-5 road trip and left the Rockies with a 12-23 record away from Coors Field.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Rockies’ 2022 season in a microcosm materialized in the sixth inning of their 6-3 loss to the Twins on Sunday afternoon at Target Field.• Yonathan Daza hit a line drive directly at pitcher Caleb Thielbar, who somehow snared the ball for the first out. Daza hurled his bat in frustration, impaling the infield turf.

• Twins right-hander Emilo Pagan relieved Thielbar and promptly struck out C.J. Cron on three pitches. “In that situation, I just wanted to do my job and I showed my frustration,” said Daza, who drove in a run with a fourth-inning double. “I was hitting the ball hard and I don’t know how the pitcher caught the ball. That’s why I threw my bat like that.”
