The Giants protected most of their starters by not playing them in Saturday night's preseason finale against the Jets, but a few players that figured to make the final cut did sustain injuries.
There was some question whether Shepard was on the roster bubble after missing all but three games last season with a torn ACL. Shepard only played in 10 games the last two seasons because of injuries.
Coach Brian Daboll indicated Shepard’s roster spot was safe during his day-after Zoom conference call Sunday. One of the two final spots at wide receiver will go to Wan’Dale Robinson if the 2022 second-round pick is ready to return from the PUP list. Robinson is also attempting to return from a torn ACL, which he sustained in Week 11 last season against Detroit.
Collin Johnson, a receiver who also was thought to have a chance of making the team because of his special-teams capabilities, was among the players cuts Sunday, which means the most likely receiver to fill out the roster is veteran Cole Beasley.
