The Giants were one of the busiest teams in the NFL last season during the waiver-claim period. Not so much this year.
One reason the Giants were not active in this year’s waiver-claim period is that they have a little more depth than last year’s team, which was coming off a string of five straight years without making the playoffs.
Last year’s team was also under new management with general manager Joe Schoen and coach Brian Daboll in their first seasons.The bigger reason for Wednesday’s inactivity was likely because the Giants were 26th among the NFL’s 32 teams in the claiming order, which means some players they may have claimed could have been plucked by other teams. A season ago, the Giants were fifth in the claiming order after finishing 4-13 in 2021.
