“An inspirational player:” Ginobili revels in Hall of Fame moment

In a rousing and at times emotional speech that lasted nearly 14-minutes, Ginobili did his best to summarize what he called “a long journey” and thank those who helped pave his path. Ginobili headlined a 13-person induction class also highlighted by former NBA star Tim Hardaway, ex NBA coach George Karl, WNBA stars Swin Cash and Lindsay Whalen, NCAA coach Bob Huggins and women’s coaching pioneers Marianne Stanley and Theresa Shank.
Ginobili did that better than anyone in NBA history. His .721 winning percentage is tops all-time among players who appeared in at least 1,000 games. Ginobili and his two older brothers were welcome in the gym there any time, seeing as they knew the founder.Ginobili’s mother, Raquel, knew nothing about basketball. Her contribution to her son’s Hall of Fame career, however, was no less important.
