Only one Republican, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., joined the 43 Democrats in the effort to block the motion. Sen. Schmitt believes the loud, pro-Palestine voices within the Democratic ranks are having a profound impact on Democratic leadership, including President Joe Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. He points to the fact that Sen. SchumerRep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.,a similar sentiment during an interview with a digital news outlet Monday night, pointing to the fact that Democratic Party leaders have become more open to the idea of restricting aid to Israel.
