New set photos for James Gunn's GuardiansOfTheGalaxy Holiday Special seem to reveal an Earth-set action scene 👀😲🤔

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special set photos tease an Earth-based action scene. After plans for the franchise got delayed due to James Gunn's firing and subsequent rehiring, the Guardians of the Galaxy are set to play a big role in MCU Phase 4. Instead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 kicking off the new phase, their first appearance after Avengers: Endgame comes in Thor: Love and Thunder.

It was previously announced that Marvel Studios and Gunn were developing The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special for Disney+. The special is set between the events of Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but details have otherwise been kept under wraps. Gunn is working on the Holiday Special and threequel at the same time, as he is filming both MCU creations as part of the same production.

There is the possibility that The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special's visit to Earth has something to do with introducing new and exciting characters, too. Gunn has confirmed the project will feature more than one great new MCU character. There has long been speculation that fellow-humans-turned-cosmic-heroes, such as Richard Rider a.k.a. Nova or Wendell Vaughn a.k.a. Quasar, could be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
