Glenn Hackney, a former Alaska legislator from Fairbanks, died Friday, May 20, after being involved in a car accident the previous Wednesday.
To honor his memory, Governor Mike Dunleavy ordered that Alaska and United States flags fly at half-staff on May 25.
Hackney leaves behind a legacy of volunteerism, known for his work with the Fairbanks Community Food Bank and his efforts to encourage Alaskans to pick up litter.Dunleavy offered his thoughts and prayers to Hackney’s family, saying, “Glenn was a beloved Alaskan, and he touched the lives of many of us. Everyone will remember him for his dedication to community service and his various forms of leadership.
