Danny Claypool used a “perfectly placed” header to get the Grandview Heights boys soccer team rolling toward its second consecutive Division III state championship.
“It was a header, kinda, perfectly placed,” Claypool said. “I was kinda lucky. I had a lot of those opportunities during the season, and none of them went in. Of course it goes in during the state championship. The Bobcats played at Ottawa Hills in their regular-season finale Oct. 15, losing 2-1 to the Green Bears.
“When the postseason started, there was an agreement that this was effectively a new season. We used everything that happened to us in the regular season and learned from that and made us a better team. As we have historically, we just got stronger and stronger as the season went on.”
