Elizabeth Francis celebrated her 114th birthday earlier this week, making history surrounded by five generations of loved ones.Francis reportedly is the oldest person in Texas, the second-oldest in the United States and the seventh in the world. When asked how she feels about being 114 years old Francis replied, “I don’t know, I just thank the good Lord for keeping me.”Her family also remembered how she always grew her own vegetables and cooked homemade meals instead of eating fast food.

Genetics seem to be in Francis’ favor as many of her beloved family members have also lived long, healthy lives, including her 94-year-old daughter, Dorothy Ray Williams, and her 68-year-old granddaughter, Ethel Harrison.Time will tell if her two other grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren also received the strong genes.
