Authorities have not released the identity of the 64-year-old woman, pending completion of an autopsy by the Lake County coroner.
The woman was struck by a 2005 Toyota Highlander at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of St. Mary’s Road and Terre Drive, authorities said.
Police said the woman was crossing St. Mary’s Road from the west side of the road when she was struck by the southbound SUV driver, an 81-year-old Libertyville man. Police said the woman rode directly into the SUV’s path, and the SUV driver was unable to stop in time.The bicyclist was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries and later died, police said.
