In the first game, the Guardians only run came on Bell’s double in the fourth inning. It cut the Marlins lead to 2-1, but Cleveland could get no closer.
The Marlins turned a 3-1 lead into a 6-1 advantage in the seventh against Nick Sandlin, Tim Herrin and Enyel De Los Santos. Luis Arraez, with one out, hit a two-run single off Herrin to make it 5-1. A double by Bryan De La Cruz and a single by Avisail Garcia made it 6-1. “It’s pretty cut and dry, it’s not the performance I would have liked to have,” said Bieber. “I didn’t get the team off to the best start. I’m looking forward to redeeming myself in the next five or six days.”The Marlins struck first, taking a 2-0 lead in the second.
Segura, who took third on Gurriel’s single, scored when Rosario couldn’t handle Jacob Stallings’ bouncer behind second.
