Famed director Guillermo del Toro, known for classics like Pan's Labyrinth and Pacific Rim, nearly directed a Star Wars movie.
revealed that he wrote a Star Wars movie that was going to be directed by del Toro, though it ended up never being made.
“I wrote an unproduced Star Wars movie that Guillermo del Toro was going to direct … that was about four years ago … dabbling in Star Wars would have been fun for me.”When asked why the film fell through, Goyer stated that lots of things were happening behind-the-scenes at“There was just a lot of behind-the … stuff going on at Lucasfilm at the time. But it’s a cool script … you’ll have to ask him [Guillermo del Toro] next time he’s on [the podcast.] It’s a cool script.
