Guillermo del Toro revealed in a recent interview that he’s long avoided using real firearms in the making of his films: “I haven’t shot a real gun on a movie set since 2007 or 2008. I don’t think it’s necessary anymore. I really don’t.”

And from the practical safety point of view, there’s no reason to do it.
