Gunman kills six in bloody rampage across Mississippi town
Six people were killed Friday after a gunman went on a rampage through a rural Mississippi town, officials said.
The suspect was apprehended following a police chase through Arkabutla, a community roughly 40 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee. His identity has not yet been revealed but officials disclosed that he may have lived in the home where two of the victims were found shot dead.“His motive is not yet known.”
The bloodbath began inside a store near the Abutment Campgrounds, where a male was fatally gunned down, Tate County Sheriff Brad LanceThe lone gunman then took off and ran into a nearby house on Bend Road, where he shot a woman, authorities said. The shooter then barged into a home on Arkabutla Dam Road that is believed to be where he lived and slaughtered two more people, police said.Officials believe the shooter acted alone.The suspect was eventually arrested after a sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle fitting the description of the suspect’s car, leading to a brief chase.There, police found a dead body inside the suspect’s car and another lying in the roadway.
