Since he took over in June, Mr. Abbott has signed on more than a dozen Hallmark veterans to do movies for GAC Family, many of whom took on Christmas roles. The channel has been criticized for its lack of diversity. Of the 12 Christmas movies in this year’s lineup, only one has Black actors among its leads; none feature same-sex couples. Hallmark is offering 40 holiday movies across its platforms, many of which have more diverse leads and plots that feature same-sex couples, as well as a Hanukkah movie.GAC Media
