Senior goalkeeper Alfonso Acosta sat alone for a moment while his teammates celebrated at midfield after Harlandale pulled off a stunning 2-1 victory over Lanier in a first round Class 5A playoff on Thursday night at Alamo Stadium.Acosta didn’t stay by himself for long. His teammates rushed to him where they continued their revelry in front of the net.
Junior forward Hugo Robledo provided both goals for Harlandale , the fourth-place team from District 28-5A. With Harlandale holding a 1-0 lead, Acosta stopped a penalty kick from Bienvenu Mubalame with 3:01 left in the first half. That was Mubalame’s best scoring chance as Cantu did a solid job of marking him. Mubalame entered with 32 goals and 13 assists. He ended the match without a score.
