Two people were taken to an area hospital following a 2-vehicle crash on the city’s South Side on Sunday afternoon, according to San Antonio police.
The crash happened around 1:25 p.m. in the 2700 block of Roosevelt Avenue, near the intersection with East Southcross.
According to police, a man in his 70s was driving a tan sedan and collided head-on with a Mustang that was heading in the opposite direction. The man became trapped inside the vehicle and had to be cut out by firefighters, police said. The driver of the sedan was taken by ambulance to University Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. A female passenger of the Mustang was also transported to a hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries. The condition of the Mustang’s driver is not currently known.
SAPD did say they believe the driver of the Mustang was traveling at a high-rate of speed when the crash occurred. At this time, it is unclear which vehicle was traveling the wrong-way.The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
