By the time they redo their education and hear back from the state board, they are ready to move on to the next military base.

Unfortunately, in practice, these reforms were not enough.to cut through the red tape, months later, nothing has changed. It’s time for the states to step up. First, states need to pass universal recognition. This means that states will recognize your license as long as it is in good standing. And the reform should not include language that the license or the licensing requirements have to be “substantially similar.” Our work shows that language weakens the effectiveness of the reform. Stipulating a maximum processing time also seems to be important, as well as making sure that the law covers as many licensed occupations.
