Hey! Say! JUMP’s ‘I am’ blasts in at No. 1 on this week's Japan Hot 100
J-pop boy band Hey! Say! JUMP's"I am" blasts in at No. 1 on this week's Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated Feb. 24 to March 1. The track led physical sales and look-ups, selling 215,692 copies in its first week.
Official HIGE DANdism's"I LOVE…" holds at No. 2, with figures for streaming , video views , and karaoke increasing from the week before. Other metrics for the song have fallen slightly, so it remains to be seen whether this track can hold its current position in the following weeks. Popular J-pop singer-songwriter aiko made her entire catalog available for streaming last week, launching four of her songs, both old and new, into this week's tally: Her new single,"Aozora," broke into the top 10 at No. 6; her massive hit from 1999"Kabutomushi" hit No. 12; another hit from 2000 called"Boyfriend" is at No. 89; and"Straw" is at No. 93.
Her previous single"Straw" was released in May 2018 and hit No. 6 on the chart dated May 14 of that year, after the release of the CD single. At the time, the song led radio airplay and came in at No. 5 for physical sales and look-ups, while also faring well in downloads and Twitter mentions .
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups, audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, RecMusic provided by Gfk Japan, dHits, Uta Pass and Spotify, plus karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING.2.
