The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has recommended easing restrictions on marijuana, Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday, citing a letter.

In the letter addressed to the Drug Enforcement Agency administrator Anne Milgram, U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine asked for marijuana to be reclassified as a Schedule III drug under the Controlled Substances Act, according to theAbout 40 U.S. states have legalized marijuana use in some form, but it remains completely illegal in some states and at the federal level.
