The tension of the war between Israel and Hamas appears to be impacting students at a school in New York.
Shen's statement saif the Israeli flag was taken from one high school student and flushed down the toilet, while a third student videoed.
The Gazette described the flag as small. The media outlet said the video shows the student who took the flag down holding it up to the camera "before the video cuts to a shot of the flag in a toilet."There was an incident that happened at the high school where a student took an Israeli flag from another student and then flushed it down the toilet while another student videoed. We take situations like this very seriously, and actions like this are not tolerated in our schools.
We want all families and students to know that the Shenendehowa Central School District takes this matter extremely seriously. The District is committed to creating and maintaining a working and learning environment that is free of discrimination and intimidation and every individual is treated with dignity and respect. The district has always stood and will continue to stand against hatred, bigotry, bullying or harassment.
Albany's superintendent released a lengthy statement reading in part, "There is no place for hate in our school district."
