Jon Shapley, Houston Chronicle / Staff photographerA suspected false report of gunmen Tuesday at Heights High School scrambled police and panicked parents who descended on the area on foot and in vehicles, frantically trying to confirm that children locked down on campus were safe.
“We have no injuries here,” Finner said at a news briefing as a crowd of parents stood at an intersection near the high school. “Thank god for that.” Parents were asked to gather to pick up students at the corner of E. 15th Street and Columbia Street. Each student will be signed out by teachers and connected with their parents, officials said, which could take some time.
