Gang rape scandal triggers exit of Hockey Canada chief and its board, following new revelations about shady funds used to pay off abuse victims
Departing head of Hockey Canada Scott Smith is under withering criticism from athletes, lawmakers and even sponsors.
"Recognising the urgent need for new leadership and perspectives, the entire Board of Directors announced it will step aside," Hockey Canada said in a statement on Tuesday. Federal Minister of Sports Pascal St-Onge called on Tuesday's changes "the right decision" and "a step toward restoring Canadians' confidence in the organisation."
