Hocus Pocus is a cult classic Halloween film that audiences love, but one scene cut by the director could have changed the movie’s villains.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Disney’s Hocus Pocus has always been a hilarious Halloween classic, but one scene cut from the movie could have changed everything. The Sanderson sisters were always focused on children, and they always had great potential to be terrifying. Because of how funny the three actresses playing them were, the movie took a different turn as filming took place, which changed Hocus Pocus's original plan.

Hocus Pocus follows three kids — Max, Dani, and Allison — one Halloween season in Salem, Massachusetts, as they explore an abandoned house in town. Allison, who has lived here a lot longer than siblings Max and Dani, warns them about a town superstition. Despite this warning from his friend, Max starts disrupting things in the house. Unfortunately for him and the rest of Salem, this releases the three Sanderson sisters, who begin their witchery all over again.

A Cut Hocus Pocus Scene Proves The Sanderson Sisters Can Be Scary Hocus Pocus had to cut a couple of things due to its three lead actresses being aces at improvisation. This is not a bad problem to have, but it can become one when a scene that gets cut is important to the development of a story. One Hocus Pocus deleted scene revolved around the kidnapping of a child. It started with the three sisters in a grocery store. They were walking through and saw a child in one of the store carts.

Any parent’s worst fear is their child going missing. While the Sanderson sisters do a lot of creepy things in the film, they never do anything that feels nightmarish. Stealing a child in a public place, however, might have crossed over that threshold. There is very little that can beat that fear, and that level of apathy from a villain, and for Mary to do it so nonchalantly showed a side to her character that hadn’t necessarily been seen before.

Mary Sanderson’s Cut Moment Would Have Made The Villain’s Claim Believable One thing that stayed in Hocus Pocus was the sisters’ bragging about their skill to terrorize children. Despite the constant gloating, most of their actions in the film can be seen as comedic. Even when they do interact with children, they’re never creating the pure terror expected when thinking about portraying that emotion.
