Holiday Bowl expects a shootout between high-scoring offenses of Oregon and North Carolina in postseason college game's downtown debut Dec. 28 at Petco Park
Announcement of the 2022 SDCCU Holiday Bowl matchup was delayed almost an hour as bowl assignments played out on ESPN’s selection show.
The other side of the matchup is what delayed the announcement as Gator Bowl and Holiday Bowl officials reportedly went back and forth with the ACC over which bowl would get Notre Dame.Oregon opened the season with a 49-3 loss to top-ranked Georgia, then went on an eight-game winning streak and rose to No. 6 in the national rankings.
At the controls of the offenses are two of the country’s leading quarterbacks, Oregon senior Bo Nix and North Carolina freshman Drake Maye .Of course, it’s not as if bowl organizers haven’t been trying to get the conferences together.The 2020 Holiday Bowl was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
