Hosni Mubarak, the former Egyptian leader whose autocratic rule sparked a 2011 revolt that removed him from power, has died aged 91
CAIRO—Egypt’s former President Hosni Mubarak will be remembered both for his three decades of autocratic rule and for the popular uprising in 2011 that ousted him and catalyzed an era of revolution and war across the Arab world.
Mr. Mubarak died Tuesday at the age of 91. His heavy-handed governance would ultimately spark the revolt that removed the president from power and spawned a violent era of political upheaval in the Arab world’s most populous nation.
