EXCLUSIVE — House Democrats are seeking to put vulnerable Republicans in the hot seat ahead of House speakership elections on Tuesday by launching a robocall campaign urging voters to contact their representatives to vote against Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan on the floor.

The campaign specifically targets Jordan over his previous voting record on a number of issues as well as his defense of former President Donald Trump in the aftermath of the 2020 election and subsequent Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The push comes just one day before the House is set to reconvene for the first time in two weeks to elect its new speaker after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted earlier this month. Jordan won the GOP nomination during a closed-door meeting with party members last week, and the Ohio Republican has been talking with House Republicans all weekend to secure the 217 votes needed to clinch the speakership when it comes to the floor.
