Production on HBO's Games of Thrones spin-off prequel House of the Dragon Season 2 has officially wrapped, just in time for its 2024 return.

During the ongoing Hollywood strikes, House of the Dragon was one of the few shows that were able to continue with its filming since all of its Season 2 scripts had already been written, and most of its cast members were part of the Actors’ Equity. The series is currently eyeing a mid-2024 return.Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon chronicles the rise and the downfall of the Targaryens – the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria.
Season 1 ended with the death of King Viserys, which threw the Targaryens into complete chaos over the next rightful heir – Prince Aegon or Princess Rhaenyra. The next season signals the beginning of the Dance of the Dragons, with each side gathering as many allies and dragons as they can to ensure the other’s defeat.
The series currently stars Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Graham McTavish, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Matthew Needham, Bill Patterson, Gavin Spokes, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Savannah Steyn, and Theo Nate.
