The average price of a gallon of gasoline hit $3.98 a gallon in the Houston area Monday, up 21 cents a gallon from a month ago and $1.39 from a year, according to the fuel-price tracking service GasBuddy.

Nationally, the average price climbed 14 cents a gallon over the week to $4.31 a gallon, up 20 cents from a month ago, and $1.36 from a year ago.Crude was trading lower Monday morning, falling more than 2 percent to about $107 a barrel.
