Laura and Michael Umansky with their twin daughters, Liv, seated, and Ryan, behind the island, at their Snowmass, Colo., home.A pair of large, Hudson Valley pendants over the island look perfect but are an example of life during the pandemic, when Umansky’s preferred choice wasn’t available and she had to make more than one new choice when things weren’t available.
Hung over a sleek fireplace is a consignment store find that Michael loved, a bison mount that the store’s sales staff had lovingly named Bob. She splurged on Ann Sacks tile in the bathroom, a Terrazzo-like pattern in floor tile that extends partway up the wall and appears behind the freestanding bathtub, a variation with a rippled front. Over that tub is a collection of small prints of marsupials, images she bought from Carl Moore Antiques before the longtime shop closed.
Liv’s room is filled with blush tones, cute wallpaper and a canopy bed, so the competitive snowboarder has a place to chill after her practices and meets. Ryan’s room has geometric wallpaper, a roomy daybed and a floral brass-and-glass chandelier over a faux fur rug.
