Houston designer Asya Khamsin claims former Biden administration staffer is now wearing her custom designs that she lost when her luggage went missing in 2018.A Houston-based fashion designer took to social media this week, claiming her designs lost on a flight in 2018 are being worn by a former Biden administration staffer.

Asya Khamsin, a native of Tanzania who lives in Houston, said on social media her bags never surfaced when she flew to Washington, D.C., for an event. According to theHer custom designs reflect her African roots with bold colors and printed fabrics. This week, Khamsin tweeted a photo of her wearing one of her designs, alongside a photo of nuclear engineer Sam Brinton in the same look. She also posted a photo from Vanity Fair of Brinton wearing one of her kaftans.

Brinton, who is genderfluid, served as the deputy assistant secretary of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the Office of Nuclear Energy from June to December 2022. The U.S. Department of Energy let them go over several accusations of luggage theft, reports the Daily Beast. When Khamsin saw photos on news reports of Brinton in what appeared to be her clothes, she said she filed a report with the Houston Police Department. In late January, she was contacted by the FBI, according to the article.
