Former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher has sued a Houston clinic that provides hair restoration treatments, saying the business used his name and likeness to advertise its services without his permission.
Houston Hair Transplant Center, a hair restoration clinic with locations in Houston and Austin, posted a blog titled “Brian Urlacher Hair Transplant?” Urlacher argued in an Jan. 5 civil suit that was deceptive and led patients to believe he had a relationship with Houston Hair Transplant Center or may have received hair restoration treatment from the center.
Urlacher is a spokesperson for RESTORE Hair, a hair restoration company with locations in Illinois, Texas, Colorado and North Carolina and has no affiliation with Houston Hair, according to the suit.Houston Hair Transplant Center has declined to comment. The blog post included quotes from a television interview in which Urlacher discussed the results of his hair transplant surgery with RESTORE. A copy attached to the lawsuit shows the Houston clinic stated in the blog that Urlacher was a spokesperson for RESTORE, but urged readers to contact a doctor at Houston Hair Transplant Center to discuss treatment options.
The suit contends that the blog’s use of the quotations implied the center had spoken directly with Urlacher. The post did not directly state that Urlacher was treated by Houston Hair Transplant Center.
