Houston weather: Extreme heat continues into this week

for most of southeast Texas, including the Houston area, remains in effect through Monday night, with the National Weather Service cautioning that warnings will likely extend into the middle of the week.The excessive heat warning stays in effect until 8 a.m. Monday, with peak heat index values in Houston expected to reach 112 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

At night, temperatures will remain in the upper 70s to low 80s.Tuesday should remain hot and dry, with a high near 101 and heat index values as high as 113.
