Fiery temperatures will continue after the National Weather Service announced Houston...

As Houston temperatures begin to heat up, here's what to know before summer really scorches the cityOn Wednesday, temperatures will remain high, though they could drop slightly. The National Weather Service is predicting similar heat index values, and expects to issue another heat advisory or warning. While temperatures are expected to stay unseasonably hot, NWS forecasters expect the heat to top out a few degrees lower than what they have been later in the week.

The shift in pressure that may bring down the temperature slightly could also bring isolated or scattered storms to the area. Here's how Houston's sizzling temperatures compare to the city's hottest June days on recordDuring extreme heat, the NWS suggests checking in on elderly or ill neighbors and family members, and as usual never leaving children or pets unattended in vehicles.
