There is a longtime perception that Jones needs to relinquish the GM title. McClay, Cowboys VP of personnel, says he doesn’t need it.
. Deuce Vaughn was picked because he deserves to play in the NFL and there’s a role for him on this team.
Over the years, McClay has turned down job interviews to become general manager with other teams. Last year, he signed a contract extension to remain with a franchise he joined in 2002 as the defensive coordinator of the team-owned arena league team. Jones has the titles and believes McClay and the personnel staff he’s put together will help him and his son make decisions.
For the rightful praise Howie Roseman, the Eagles executive vice president and general manager, receives for the rosters he’s put together, it’s fair to say the players McClay pushed the buttons for last year in the draft had more of an impact.
