Sony holds the rights for Spider-Man when it comes to the movies, and the studio has to create a film based on the character every few years, so that the rights do not revert to Marvel.
Hardy's Venom even crossed over to the MCU, appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scene before being quickly sent back to Sony's Spider-Man Universe.
