Penn State is paying a good chunk of change to Bowling Green, according to the game contract obtained by PennLive.

The game contract, which was obtained by PennLive, was signed between the two schools on Oct. 12, 2017.Bowling Green’s $1.5 million payday is in line with the normal fee associated with bringing in a lower level FBS team to play at a power conference venue.that nearly 40 Power Five programs scheduled a total of 49 buy games worth approximately $65 million.For upper-echelon programs like Penn State, “buy games” are more often than not a blowout win and a chance to get younger players game action.
James Franklin, judging from comments made over the last few years, would seemingly lean more toward the latter. Asked after Penn State’s win at Auburn in 2022 if he would be open to more non-conference home-and-home series, Franklin said simply:Penn State closed out a non-conference home-and-home series with West Virginia in Week 1. The Nittany Lions beat the Mountaineers, 34-12, last weekend and won the first matchup in Happy Valley last September, 38-15.
