Here’s everything you need to know about universal preschool in Colorado, including how to sign up.
Colorado parents with young children can sign up for the state’s new universal preschool program starting Tuesday., which begins in the fall, is a voluntary program that offers families with eligible children up to 15 hours of free preschool per week.
The state estimated the program will save parents an average of $6,000 per year, according to a joint news release by the governor’s office and the Colorado Department of Early Childhood.What is the Universal Preschool Colorado program?and will begin during the 2023-24 academic year. In 2020, Colorado voters approved a measure to raise taxes on nicotine products. Part of the revenue from those taxes, which is estimated to bring in $275 million annually by 2027, will go toward the preschool program.
Three-year-olds can also qualify for 10 hours per week of state-funded preschool if they meet certain criteria, such as if they are dual-language learners or are in foster/kinship care,
