The wildfires on the Hawaiian island of Maui have caused record-breaking devastation, and a Hudson High School graduate experienced it first-hand.
Hudson grad Sam Younger and his wife, Josie, lost their home and all of their belongings in the Maui wildfires.HUDSON, Ohio --
For Younger, who grew up in Hudson and graduated in the class of 2001, the fire seemed “like little explosions going off everywhere,” his mother said. The pair lost their home of ten years, but were able to load up their two dogs and escape to safety. They managed to avoid a traffic jam by heading south, Orendt said.
Though many are not planning to stay in Maui following the devastation, Orendt said that her son and his wife plan on fighting back to rebuild their lives.
