If Sony can removed Cyberpunk 2077 over a refund dispute with CDPR, they, or Microsoft, can remove Call of Duty because of Activision Blizzard's behavior.
The obvious pushback here will be “but that was because Cyberpunk 2077 was broken.” Well, it’s complicated. Sony’s removal of the game from the store “because it was broken” has a bunch of caveats attached to it. To this day it seems like it may have been aof an extreme reaction, given that the game actually ran worse on base Xboxes, and it was never removed there. And by removing it from the store, it also took down the PS4 Pro/PS5 version, which had far fewer issues.
We have talked about what it would actually take to get some movement on Bobby Kotick leaving Activision Blizzard, and there are really only three options. The board turns on him, and they’ve already expressed their support for him. Large investors call for his ousting, and they’ve all remained silent. Or powerful third party partners take meaningful action that would hurt the company unless change is made.
