Alliance Fencing Academy member and Schola and Christian Perspectives junior Samuel Imrek won the gold medal at the Cadet World Championship, April 9 in Dubai, UAE.Local fencer Samuel Imrek brought home the gold medal April 9 at the Cadet World Championship among a field of 142 fencers representing 63 countries in Cadet Men’s Epee. The Championships were held from April 2-10, 2022 in Dubai, UAE.
For the final bout, Imrek faced fourth-seed Israeli Alon Sarid. Imrek won the bout 15-9 in a daring counter move as Sarid flew towards him in a fleche attack just inches from the end of the fencing strip. His advice to others? “Never doubt yourself, I guess,” Imrek said. “Just keep on going even when it’s really hard. Keep on pushing and one day you might be a world champion.”
