had done two podcasts that had done really well for them, and they wanted me to think about doing one. My editor said, “What about the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders?” because I had been thinking about a story on them for years. I had just listened toYes, and what I really loved about that podcast was the way Dolly used her own story to tell a larger story about women’s lives.
It’s been really interesting to watch the idea of cheerleading shape-shift; I don’t think it has nearly the hold on the teenage experience that it used to, and I think it’s a lot more egalitarian.I learned how hard it was to be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
