Despite being the final installment in an acclaimed franchise, the latest movie, which cost a whopping $295 million to produce, underperformed in its opening few days.

This is on par with MCU movies like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Thor: Love and Thunder and brings the movie's five-day domestic total to a still disappointing $82.5.
Dial Of Destiny's Box Office Longevity Will Be Crucial To Success Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny stars an 80-year-old actor and is the conclusion to a franchise that started back in 1981, so it's not necessarily surprising that younger audiences aren't flocking to the movie. The latest sequel was always going to perform strongest with a slightly older demographic who know and appreciate Steven Spielberg's original three movies.
The film certainly wasn't helped by mixed reviews out of Cannes, but judging from Indiana Jones 5's Rotten Tomatoes audience score, it's proving to be much more popular among general moviegoers. It's still possible that strong word-of-mouth combined with a delayed turnout among older audiences will help Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny emerge from the shadow of its poor opening weekend.
