On World Food Day, Loretto Hospital, located on Chicago's west side, celebrated the grand opening of its unique community cupboard. This hospital-based food pantry aims to tackle food insecurity issues that affect local residents in the Austin neighborhood.
Local leaders recognized a pressing need within the community, as existing food pantries had limited hours of operation or were situated at a considerable distance from those without personal transportation. In response, Loretto Hospital's pantry will be open 24/7, 365 days a year, and it's conveniently located near the hospital's main entrance, ensuring that anyone in need can access it at any time.
