The UTHealth collection is one of dozens of brain banks worldwide, but not all of them have such close relationships with their local coroner’s office. Bradley was not sure whether this would disqualify the brain as a contender. They would need to confer with Walss-Bass later in the day. For now, they would take it. Bradley drove the five-minute route back to the lab with a blue beach cooler. The brain, enclosed in a small white bucket, remained in the ice chest until Bradley took it out and weighed it Then they began cutting.
Bradley froze the pieces of one hemisphere in liquid nitrogen, and preserved the other in formaldehyde.
