An investor group led by former Viacom CFO Wade Davis has agreed to acquire a majority stake in Spanish-language media giant Univision Communications for an undisclosed sum. Davis will become CEO. Details:
The Spanish-language media giant last summer said it would entertain offers from potential buyers as part of an exploration of"strategic options."
The group includes private equity firm Searchlight Capital and ForgeLight, with Davis set to run the company as CEO., Univision said it would entertain offers from potential buyers as part of an exploration of “strategic options” and engaged Morgan Stanley, Moelis & Co. and LionTree as financial advisors.
Univision was hoping an IPO might have valued the company at $20 billion, and it had in 2017 turned down an offer of up to $15 billion from John Malone, who controls Lionsgate, SiriusXM Radio and other media assets.
