This $5 smartphone hack silently compromises iPhone, Pixel and Galaxy devices

It has also, however, joined Apple and Google in being in a group of smartphone manufacturers to be targeted by some pretty advanced hacking technology. Academic security researchers have published a paper and supporting videos, showing how smartphone voice assistants can be controlled by commands that are inaudible to mere humans.
, the researchers from Michigan State University, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Washington University in St. Louis and the Chinese Academy of Sciences demonstrate how some smartphone voice control systems can be attacked through solid objects using ultrasonic waves. The researchers focused on Apple's Siri, the Google Assistant and Samsung's Bixby across a total of 17 different smartphone models from manufacturers including Apple, Google, Huawei, Motorola, Samsung and Xiaomi.
